About the Environment and Sustainable Development team

The OAG is committed to integrating environment and sustainable development matters throughout its performance audit and special examination work, not just in reports presented for tabling by the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development. In addition to the teams working on the Commissioner’s reports, a small team of environment and sustainable development specialists works on advising teams across the OAG during the planning phase so that they can understand and document how environment and sustainable development matters can or should affect their audit scopes and approaches.

About this job

Roles and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

working with performance audit and special examination teams when required (that is, meeting with entities and developing lines of enquiries)

leading the work related to the requirements of the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development pertaining to the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy

being flexible to support new projects introduced to the office, including the following possible upcoming work:

green bonds

climate-related risk disclosure

greening government operations

sustainable finance

being responsible for activities or projects of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions’ Working Group on Environmental Auditing, including, but not limited to, the following existing work packages:

guidance on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals

tools for auditing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals

climate finance

Job Requirements

Essential Qualifications

To be appointed, you must meet the following essential qualifications. Please provide appropriate examples for each.

Education:
Graduate degree from a recognized university. We are looking for candidates with diverse backgrounds from a variety of disciplines, including, but not limited to, environmental science or studies, geography, biology, engineering, law, gender and diversity studies, public policy, and international development.

Experience:
Experience in environmental and sustainable development matters

Experience* in planning, conducting, and reporting on performance audits, internal audits, program evaluations, or large projects

Experience* in providing advice and presenting findings and recommendations to senior officials, verbally and in writing

Experience* in maintaining working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Experience* in managing human and financial resources, including day-to-day management of teams and individuals

  • Experience is defined as a minimum of 3 years at the AP-03 level at the OAG or 9 years of experience acquired in another organization.

Asset Qualifications
