Job Title: Director – Project Services

Roles & Responsibilities:
Ability to execute projects under multiple methodologies (Agile – Scrum & Playback Methodology, Waterfall and variations of the three)

Ability to execute Programs with multiple streams reporting into the Program

Consolidate updates of individual projects that are part of a Program and report and present to executive team members

Plans and manages all components of simple to high complexity IT projects varying in size

Plans and manages multiple projects simultaneously within budget, schedule quality, and customer satisfaction.

Develops project artifacts including detailed work plans, schedules, estimates, resource plans, communication plans, risk management plans, among others.

Owns delivery of project objectives and provides leadership to achieve business objectives.

Carries out scope and budget integration across projects to obtain synergies and enhanced benefits.

Ensures project team compliance with CMMI standards including PMLC and SDLC standards.

Ensures project team compliance with other organizational processes and procedures.

Provides periodic status and progress updates to all stakeholders.

Generates and maintains project metrics for effective project monitoring and control.

Influences and manages stakeholders through strong communication and negotiation skills.

Pro-actively manages project risks, issues, and actions.

Collaborates and negotiates with senior leaders across functions.

Collaborates and communicates with end clients and vendors.

Key Qualifications

Minimum 8 years’ progressive experience managing small to large IT Projects; specifically, in the Canadian Financial Services Industry.

Minimum 1-3 years’ progressive experience managing Programs

University degree or equivalent education.

Scrum Master Certification preferred

PMP Designation or other equivalent related Project Management Certifications.

Strong understanding of Agile practices (focus on Scrum and Playback Methodology) PMI-PMBOK, PRINCE2, CMMI and/or ITIL methodology, processes, and procedures.

Experience in Canadian Mutual Fund or Transfer agency experience preferred.

Current and related work experience in managing all facets of application and software product development projects.

Other Requirements

Strong ability to manage projects and teams cross-functionally in a global matrix organization within varying time zones.

Must be able to lead project team members varying in size from small to large groups.

Proficient in verbal and written communication.

Strong ability to deliver presentations and other project related information (e.g. status, issues, and risks) to clients and senior management in concise and clear manner.

Highly organized and effective in engaging others to influence, motivate and negotiate to achieve successful project delivery results.

Must demonstrate ability to work independently while ensuring all results and contributions support the team and project goals and timelines.

Highly effective with problem identification, assessment of project gaps, risks and issues and implement resolution methods in a timely manner.

Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build effective working relationships, solicit co-operation, and resolve conflicts. Transformation Program Director – additional responsibilities

Program Management Functions (additional)

Participate in development of program playbooks on transformation initiatives

Plan program estimation into program annual budget for financial management

Develop new agile planning tools for project managers

Coach and develop change manager, project managers, project financial analyst

Build executive presentations Strategic Elements

Identify transformation initiatives to improve the business bottom or top-line growth

Document existing program processes for rollout to BAU

Business case to improve existing PMO; increase value and decrease cost
