Your Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Director, Talent and Organizational Development to join our HR team.
The role performs as a trusted advisor and collaborative thought leader, accountable for translating business needs into talent strategies, including talent segmentation, succession planning, as well as leadership and learning programs. In addition, the role is responsible for performance and organizational development practices that align with current and future business needs to ensure the company attracts, develops, and retains talent. Company success and employee engagement and growth are enabled and supported by the development and effective delivery of talent programs and services aligned to business objectives and HR strategy. This role will provide in-depth expertise, advice, and education as a source of counsel to HR and leaders.
Your Key Responsibilities
Oversee design and delivery of global talent strategies that support an inclusive employee experience beginning to end – from talent assessment, segmentation, performance, learning, development, and succession planning.
Ensure talent solutions align to and enable a performance culture of accountability, excellence, growth, innovation, and inclusion, in which every employee brings their full self to work and is inspired to do their best work.
Lead the performance management and career development processes and ensure they reinforce and further develop Stantec’s performance culture.
Lead design of talent segmentation and succession planning processes to understand organizational bench strength and identify talent pools, along with strategies to build and strengthen the leadership pipeline.
Design and execute engaging approaches to learning. Set direction and manage instructional design and development processes. Partner with HR Business Partners and the business to develop training and learning programs that deliver value to the business.
Partner closely with HR Business Partners and business leaders to ensure programs are meeting the company’s needs.
Oversee the implementation of a global career framework that enables career pathing, skill and competency development.
Oversee the optimization of the talent management system and related processes.
Lead, inspire, coach, and develop a diverse, engaged team that is committed to service and quality outcomes. Direct accountability and leadership for the North American team, as well as oversight of a global community of practice. Teams by region outside North America focus on local needs and delivery and report to Regional HR Directors.
Leverage data and analytics across Stantec to identify high potentials, talent mix opportunities, and developmental needs and trends. Develop metrics and/or benchmarks to measure success against targets and ensure accountability in tracking and monitoring initiatives.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Strong business acumen and understanding of the HR levers that contribute to talent success.
Experience in translating current and anticipated business needs to talent strategy, priorities, and plans.
Able to think big picture, while also being disciplined and detail oriented.
Impactful global talent management, learning, and succession planning experience.
Proven track record of service-focused design and delivery of high-quality work and achievement of results.
Excellent presentation and facilitation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of leaders and employees.
Excellent critical thinking skills, including using good business sense and organizational values to make decisions involving varying levels of risk and ambiguity.
Collaborative influencer with strong consultative skills, excellent stakeholder management and listening skills.
Superior organization skills, ability to effectively multi-task and attention to details are critical.
Dynamic, adaptable to change and enjoys working in a challenging and collaborative environment.
Experience leading, developing, managing, and growing a team. Track record of creating and maintaining high performance teams.
Excellent coaching and mentoring skills
Maintain currency in HR trends and practice.
Experience operating in a large, complex, and changing environment. Demonstrates learning agility.
Vendor management to ensure delivery of intended outcomes.
Education and Experience
A post-secondary degree in HR Management, Business or a related discipline.
Twenty years of related experience in Talent and Organizational Development, or a combination of Talent and OD and general Human Resources experience.
A minimum of five years of experience and demonstrated leadership effectiveness leading Talent teams that deliver value to the business
Proven, progress experience and demonstrated effectiveness in talent and organizational related initiatives and programs with an emphasis on leading and managing a team and influencing change.
