Description
To oversee operations of the collection, processing and storage of Foodbank donations at the Warehouse location, practicing good stewardship of our donated resources.
Hours:
- Full-Time – temporary – 40 hours per week – November to January 2022; with the possibility of extension.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors, participates and/or supervises production and/or distribution operations of the donation warehouse
- Participates with management in strategizing for better collection, processing and distribution of goods to the Salvation Army locations
- Participates in selecting volunteers with Management; supervises volunteers
- Ensures overall compliance with all safety procedures by implementing and monitoring Health & Safety policies and procedures
- May manage the loss prevention program in compliance with the budget; assists with preparing financial and other requested reports as required; assists in answering inquiries for receipting
- Collects and processes goods and/or delivers to other Salvation Army locations for emergency and disaster services as assigned (i.e. supply clothing, household goods (may include food) to families as a result of a disaster – flood/fire)
- Responsible for the warehouse fleet such as, the forklifts, and other machinery, ensuring maintenance schedules and safety protocol followed
- Responsible for overseeing building caretaking including cleaning, maintenance, repairs in/outside and grounds maintenance; will assist others with general cleanup, snow removal, garbage and compost removal.
- Will be responsible for receiving phone calls, receiving donations, handling public inquiries within Vernon Salvation Army’s policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of High School (an alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable)
Experience:
- Up to three (3) months prior experience, including life skills
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Heavy lifting: able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Universal precautions
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Forklift operation ticket is an asset – but we can provide training. It will be required for this position.
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- A clean drivers abstract
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
