The role of the Divisional Coordinator of Women’s Ministries is to assist the Divisional Director of Women’s Ministries (DDWM) in giving oversight, direction and encouragement to the women officers and leaders of Women’s Ministries groups in the division.
This is a full-time position at 30 hours per week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Written and Verbal Communication/Reporting
- Handle all correspondence related to Women’s Ministries responsibilities to and from corps
- Responsible for creating and submitting Women’s Ministries reports to THQ within 10 days after each event (e.g., Camp/Retreat/Conference and Promotion Week/Women’s Sunday) in consultation with DDWM
- Create program and resource material to women and empower them to be agents of transformation in their communities and around the world
- Research and provide resource material specific to women – digital and hard copies, supported by the THQ Women’s Ministries Dept
- Keep divisional woman up to date with service opportunities including social justice issues (e.g., human trafficking, domestic violence, promotion and training of BRAVE for children in care)
- Ensure Women’s Ministries corps and divisional statistics are recorded through SAMIS monthly
- Ensure annual reviews of Women’s Ministries are conducted, and results monitored when the Area Commanders do the Corps Review. Ensure WM Integrated Rolls are updated, and the changes are included in SAMIS (may be done in partnership with ACs)
- Ensure that the June Change report is submitted to DHQ when officers are being transferred
Meetings and Events
- Plan, organize and execute specific events for the women of the division (camps, including annual Women’s camp(s), retreats, conferences, BRAVE)
- Plan, prepare agenda items, and lead quarterly Divisional Women’s Ministries Committee(s) meetings in consultation with DDWM
- Work with Divisional Youth Secretaries to help plan and host Family Camp
- Visit women’s groups providing support and encouraging new initiatives which align with the territorial vision and strategy. Encouraging partnerships within communities to accomplish the mission
- Engage in opportunities to special at women’s events and gatherings.
- Meet occasionally with the DDWM and Area Commanders (AC) to discuss mission outcomes as it relates to Women’s Ministries in the Division.
- Ensure proper procedures are followed when guests are invited for WM special events. (e.g., if guest is from outside of the territory, invitations must go through the Chief Secretary’s Office)
- Monitor the frequency of women officers’ specialling
- Encourage corps to hold Women’s Ministries Promotional Week gatherings
- Visit corps (in-person or virtually) women’s groups providing support and encouragement.
- Encourage groups and individuals to participate in the Territorial, Divisional and Sponsorship Projects (completing THQ reports where necessary).
Training and Mentoring
- Encourage leadership in Women’s Ministries by training, teaching, equipping, and mentoring women to take the lead in their community
- Encourage corps to hold Women’s Ministries Promotion Week or Women’s Sunday
- Encourage participation in the World Day of Prayer
- Encourage women to be involved in their local communities by representing The Salvation Army on a board, i.e., homelessness or domestic violence
- Encourage groups and individuals to participate in Sponsorship Projects supported by THQ
- Involvement with Fellowship of the Silver Star as requested by the DDWM. Ensure that the Silver Star database is updated annually as requested by THQ
- Support corps officers and local leadership in a pastoral and practical manner
- Promote the curriculum for girls ages 12-17 called “Grow” throughout the division in partnership with the youth department
- Be an advocate for Women’s Ministries continued support of Others – Trade for Hope
- Create and/or promote focused ministry to women (in all areas of community/society)
- Engage women of all ages for mission advancement
Online and Social Media
- Provide online opportunities to engage the corps officers and women in the division
- Maintain and develop resources for Facebook, Women’s Ministries website, Ministry Helps, and other online platforms, etc.
Collaboration and Partnerships
- Work with the divisional youth and children’s department partnering, where possible, on social justice issues to have a singular vision in the division
- Ensure that appropriate recognition is given to retiring Women’s Ministries leaders.
- Encourage and hold accountable corps leadership to ensure that the spiritual, emotional, physical, and social needs are represented in each corps. (Each corps should have a minimum of one expression of ministry to women.)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- Completion of a university degree in social sciences or related field
- Criminal Record Check
- Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Registry Check
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- One to three years of prior related experience in a variety of social service programs

- Participate in supervision and performance appraisal process when appropriate
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training
