Job Description
Camosun College values teaching excellence in its faculty and is committed to successful learning for its students; the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) exists solely to support this objective. CETL inspires and promotes innovation and excellence in all aspects of teaching and learning. The Centre consists of three units— eLearning, curriculum development and program renewal, and faculty development. Core to the work of CETL is a commitment to Indigenizing the Camosun learning experience and advancing the values of equity and inclusion.
The Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning invites applications for a full-time continuing Educational Developer for Indigenization. Reporting to Director of Learning Services, the Developer will be a part of the CETL faculty development team and will work with faculty across the college.
Duties include:
- Develop and curate accessible, inclusive, current resources (both online and print-based) to support the Indigenization of teaching and learning practices and advance anti-racist approaches to enhance equity and inclusion
- Provide guidance and constructive feedback to instructors seeking to Indigenize their teaching practice
- Actively participate in program reviews and other quality assurance activities to ensure Indigenous perspectives are upheld
- Design and deliver workshops, seminars, and facilitate networking to build awareness, knowledge and skill related to Indigenization and anti-racism, leading to change in educational practices
- Facilitate collaboration between Indigenous and ally instructors; reach out to discern needs and provide appropriate supports, mentorship and guidance
- Participate in research activities related to Indigenization, equity and inclusion.
- Document and curate stories of Camosun’s Indigenization and reconciliation journey
- Participate in relevant college committees and cross-functional working groups as needed
- Maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, and related professional networks

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a subject that reflects an Indigenous worldview;
- Three years of post-secondary teaching.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous pedagogy, traditional knowledge and Indigenous ways of knowing and being; strong grasp of critical educational theory
- Solid repertoire of Indigenous teaching and learning skills, knowledge and abilities with a demonstrated knowledge of leading curriculum development practices and an understanding of the role of an education developer within a post-secondary institution
- Lived experience within an Indigenous community
- Demonstrated knowledge of online teaching and learning and the use of educational technology and awareness of barriers some individuals may experience in the use of technology
- Demonstrates creativity, innovative practices, curiosity, and willingness to learn new things
- Service oriented, with a willingness to collaborate and share expertise; embraces lifelong learning and reflective practice
