Education Program Coordinator

ALPHA Education is an educational, non-profit, and registered charity in Canada that promotes a critical-historical investigation of the events of World War II in Asia. We achieve this mission through education programs, advocacy initiatives, and events along four strategic directions: engaging educators and students, empowering youth, supporting research, and connecting with the community. Through ALPHA’s education programs, students develop historical thinking, not just content, which contribute to their role in championing equity, humanity and global peace over discrimination and violence. Currently ALPHA Education has embarked on a major and significant project – the establishment of the Asia Pacific Peace Museum (APPM).

ALPHA Education is seeking to provide a Canada Summer Jobs opportunity to an undergraduate in their final year of studies or a recent college or university graduate who aspires but faces access barriers to employment and seeks workplace experience in an education-focused organization.

As an Education Program Coordinator, the participant will be working with ALPHA’s education team on:

Review ALPHA Education research-based program curriculum and resources

Co-develop the structure, content and objectives of new or revised programs

Assist in the development of teaching materials and other resources for program delivery

Co-facilitate presentations and workshops

Work with ALPHA Education program leads

Contribute to administration of impact study, data analysis, and report writing

Support promotion of ALPHA Education programs and workshops

At the end of the work placement, the CSJ participant will be prepared with the skill sets that employers seek. The tasks and responsibilities outlined above will be designed to ensure the CSJ participant will:

learn to plan, develop, and facilitate experiential learning that are educational and recreational.

learn how to apply networking and peer team skills successfully.

learn to engage in discussions of controversial social issues that bring people together – a key leadership skill.

gain transferable experience in working with a team of professionals.

gain experience in designing learning and undertaking administrative tasks, using both digital and non-digital tools and applications.

gain experience in problem-solving to complete tasks that involve teamwork and collaborative decision-making.

gain experience in conducting impact study for program improvement.

gain essential soft skills that labour and employment market research have demonstrated are expected by any employer.

Contract length: 10 weeks

Part-time hours: 35 per week
