As a member of the Information and Education Technology Group, the Education Technology Technician contributes to the proactive planning and identification of relevant and applicable IT and Education Technology. The Education Technology Technician is a technical expert who works to ensure the Information Technology and Education Technology deployed to schools and Regional School Operations offices are meeting the varying needs of staff, students, and educators and operating as designed. Furthermore The Education Technology Technician supports the varying and diverse technical needs of all educators, students, and users (in Nunavut schools and Regional School Operations offices) of deployed technological tools and equipment (e.g., computers, software systems, tablets, etc.).
Key responsibilities for this position include: properly installing and configuring IT and Education Technology allocated to students and educators; life cycle maintenance and provision of support for technology / equipment allocated to students and educators; the staging and installation of devices on the CSN and the provision of CSN related support (inclusive of matters related with wireless utility); managing and maintaining user accounts on the CSN network and ensuring the effective operation of email systems; evergreening on IT and Education Technology deployed by the Department; providing support to users of deployed IT / Education Technology; identifying IT and Education Technology to address curriculum, student, educator, school, and RSO staff needs.
The successful candidate should have a diploma in Information Technology and 1 year of experience working in an Information Technology environment delivering similar services to that required for the position. Nunavut based experience is an asset.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit would also be considered an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
