Position Summary:
The Clinical Educator for the Critical Care Program, is a professional role model and resource person for nursing staff and other members of the health care team in supporting the development of policies and procedures that promote evidence-based practice. Clinical Educators plan, develop, facilitate, coordinate and evaluate educational opportunities for nursing staff; including orientation and skills development in new technology, medications, and procedures for a broad range of practice competencies and medical directives based on patient population. The Clinical Educator focuses on the accuracy, completeness and consistency of inpatient clinical documentation to support professional practice and the reporting of high-quality healthcare data.
Position Requirements:
Successful completion of a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BScN).
Registered Nurse (RN) with a current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Successful completion and possession of a BCLS certification.
Minimum of five (5) years of recent experience with the ability to demonstrate an advanced level of clinical knowledge.
Advanced knowledge and clinical expertise in related field.
Knowledge of adult learning theories and education principles, CNO standards, legislative initiatives, and evidenced -based, best practice interventions.
Demonstrated understanding and utilization of Lean methodology.
Commitment to life-long learning while actively keeping up to date on areas of clinical practice.
Knowledge of clinical informatics and ability to utilize in the practice setting.
Facilitation skills including the ability to adjust content and teaching strategies appropriate to learner needs.
Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to effectively collaborate, facilitate, and influence professional practice.
Strong personal computing skills, especially in the Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel,
Power Point) environments.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Ability to work both independently and amicably within an interdisciplinary team.
Successfully able to perform their function in accordance with prescribed standards that focuses on the priority of People Safety and the delivery of the highest standard of Quality Care.
Demonstrate the physical and mental capabilities necessary for proper and efficient performance of the essential duties of the position.
Preferred Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Education or Health related field.
Experience as a Clinical Educator preferred.
