Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of health, safety and environment standards. Communicates all health, safety and environment information/requirements with superiors, managers, Supervisors and employees, and subordinates. Maintains records and retention of for local, state, federal and international health, safety and environment standards compliance and audits. Contributes, participates and assists to drive continuous improvement plan with leadership team. Support Quality and Continuous Improvement compliance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintain Health, Safety and Environment standards as applicable to assigned facility, according to SBD Corporate guidelines.
Determine overall facility safety and environment compliance by conducting and evaluating audits, tests and related procedures. Resolve safety/environment problems in facility and field issues as needed.
Assist management to identify at risk work processes and coordinate local Risk Assessment audits. Ensure identified actions are tracked to closure.
Conduct HS&E Training for new hire and refresher training as required. Conduct employee safety training to ensure compliance with government guidelines and oversee employee Safety training records.
Maintain current Energy, Carbon, Water and Waste levels as per SBD Scorecard goals and complete required SBD reporting on SBD’s EHS Web.
Work with government agencies in the event of any announced/unannounced inspections or audits.
Eliminate/control hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations that may lead to injury and/or property damage.
Promote safety awareness and encourage and promote a safe working culture.
Conduct on site accident investigations to determine root causes for accidents.
Liaise with Corporate HSE Team to ensure common system and sharing of best practices.
Work with HSE Lead in Houston to coordinate safety programs and requirements to technician mobilization to Canadian projects.
Improve and advance the overall culture of the Safety Program.
Additional items as deemed necessary by the business.
QUALIFICATIONS
HS Diploma or GED Equivalent
Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Safety or Environmental Sciences preferred
3-5 years’ experience in implementing EHS culture in a warehouse environment preferred
Familiarity with government local environmental, health and safety management, regulatory, and legal systems.
Due to the nature of operations, must be available to take calls/respond to calls as needed including weekends.

Great analytical skills including ability to interpret data; use data to drive decisions
Strong communication skills (written and oral)
Excellent presentation skills with ability to adjust content and delivery methods based on audience (must be able to present to employees who work in the plant, peers, executive leadership and third parties as necessary)
Strong influencing skills and ability to advise leadership team members
Ability to exercise principled judgment and sound rationale to make critical decisions
Ability to work in a dynamic environment with demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing projects and priorities
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations
