TEMPORARY GRADE 7 AND 8 SUMMER SCHOOL TEACHER(S)

Summer school relies on dynamic teachers who are committed to creating an engaging online

environment that helps students to develop and apply their skills in an exciting way.

REPORTS TO: Summer School Coordinator

DURATION: Teachers have the opportunity to teach one or both of the following sessions

pending enrolment:
Session 1: Commencing July 5, 2021 and ending July 16, 2021 Math Camp

Session 2: Commencing July 19, 2021 and ending July 30, 2021 Literacy Camp

REMUNERATION: $41.60 (inclusive of vacation and statutory pay, per the current OSSTF

Collective Agreement)

LOCATION: Remote

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The summer school program is committed to providing quality education for every student in a

safe and caring environment. As a summer school teacher, you will provide leadership and

direct teacher support to a number of students from across the district.

Professional development will be provided to support numeracy and literacy planning for the

virtual learning environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teaching assignments will include the Grade 7 and 8 ‘Adventures in Literacy’, and Grade 7

and 8 “Count Me In!’ math camp through online learning

• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A teacher in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
• Able to access technology and reliable internet connection

ASSETS:

• Experience using Office 365, the Virtual Learning Environment, Brightspace
• Strong communication and class management skills
• An understanding of effective learning, teaching and assessment strategies
• Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills

Courses will run only if qualified teachers are available and an average minimum class size can

be established.
