Course Description: The origin and development of Impressionism in France and Europe, 1860-1886, in its social, political, and intellectual context. Painting, graphics, and sculpture by Monet, Renoir, Degas, Pissarro, Sisley, Cassatt, and Morisot.

Estimated Course Enrolment: 55 students

Estimated TA Support (based on full course enrolment): 1 TA @ approx. 81 hours

Class Schedule: Online Synchronous. Tuesdays & Thursdays 6 pm to 8 pm

The delivery schedule for this course is currently online synchronous. Lectures will be delivered online per the meeting schedule. Please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery may change as determined by the Faculty or Department.

Sessional Dates of Appointment: July 1 to August 31, 2021; Final Assessment period August 18-30, 2021.

Please note: This position includes the completion of any course work and marking not finished by August 31, 2021.

Salary:
$8,489.67 for Sessional Lecturer I

$8,869.25 for Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term

$9,085.58 for Sessional Lecturer II

$9,301.90 for Sessional Lecturer III

Qualifications: A background in art history is required. PhD or MA in Art History or a related field required, PhD preferred. Knowledge of the origin and development of Impressionism in France and Europe (1860-1886) is required. Previous teaching experience in this or a similar course at the university level is preferred. Training in education would be a great asset. Experience with management and delivery of online courses using University of Toronto or similar online systems (e.g., Quercus, Canvas-based technologies, Microsoft Teams, etc.) not required but is an asset.

Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University credit course, including: delivering two 2-hour lectures per week; developing syllabus and marking scheme; setting and invigilating term tests and final examination / assessment; grading and reporting of final grades; supervision of teaching assistants, if applicable; availability in office hours for academic counselling of students.
