Events and Project Manager, North America Program
Term: May 15, 2021 – April 30, 2022 (Full-time contract with possibility for renewal)
Starting Salary Range: $48,000 to $54,000
Location: Our head office is in Montreal but this is a remote working position open to all applicants in Canada

About the role
The Association for Canadian Studies (ACS) is a non-profit organization whose main objective is to increase Canadians’ knowledge of their country via conferences, publications, learning materials and research. Our international and interdisciplinary research team is conducting a three-country study, COVID-19’s differential impact on Indigenous Peoples and Newcomers: A socioeconomic analysis of Canada, the USA and Mexico. The study seeks to understand the socioeconomic impact of COVID-19 among Indigenous peoples, newcomers, and racialized groups in Canada, the USA and Mexico. As an extension of this study, to better coordinate and consolidate research and public knowledge around the social policy impacts of the COVID-19 variants, the research team will convene an international network of academic, community, Indigenous governance, ethnocultural associations, and government partners.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The Events and Project Manager, North America Program will convene meetings for the members of the international network, facilitate data and resource sharing among the network, and share the evidence and research to policymakers in a timely manner. The Manager will ensure the deliverables for the project are met, oversee the project finances, and organize online conferences for network members and audiences across Canada, the USA, and Mexico.
The Events and Project Manager will reach out to invite new members, including knowledge users like Indigenous, ethnocultural community and newcomer organizations, policymakers, and researchers, to join the network. They will also reach out to existing network members to facilitate knowledge sharing among members in regards to the social policy impacts of COVID-19 and its variants.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be someone who is adaptable, innovative and has good problem-solving skills in addition to:
- An undergraduate degree or equivalent in the social sciences field
- 2-5 years of experience organizing web-based events and spearheading a project to completion
- Strong writing skills
- Being an effective communicator
- Being able to work independently while managing multiple tasks
- Having knowledge of WordPress (an asset)
- Bilingual or trilingual preferred (English-French-Spanish an asset)
