The Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour is seeking an individual to lead the WorkingNB branch as the Executive Director. This position may have a flexible work location in any of the WorkingNB central or regional offices in New Brunswick.
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Adult Learning and Employment division, the successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to a team of professionals within WorkingNB which is comprised of central and regional offices located across the province, including direct management to the leadership team of ten directors. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic planning of the WorkingNB structure, provide leadership and direction in the development and operation of multi-disciplinary central and regional programs, services and delivery, as well as to provide an advisory role to senior management.
The WorkingNB branch strategically responds to the evolving needs of the labour market by providing information, services and supports that are responsive to the needs of job seekers, adult learners and employers. The branch ensures that new initiatives are developed when a gap in service is identified, and that staff have the tools and supports required to help clients with their training and employment needs. The branch is also responsible for increasing literacy and workplace essential skills.
The successful candidate will also provide leadership, guidance and direction for the establishment and maintenance of partnerships, liaise with senior internal and external stakeholders regarding training and employer/employee matters, respond to labour market needs and oversee the development of labour market strategies, and represent the Department on regional, provincial and national committees. The financial resource management responsibilities include incorporating a high standard for financial responsibility and accountability; developing short and long-term budgetary projections for programs and services; monitoring budget and providing quarterly forecasting of expenditures to Financial Services; and administering the budget in accordance with organizational goals, objectives and priorities for the provision of high quality of service delivery and programs.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: University degree and ten (10) years of progressively responsible related experience, as well as at least five (5) years of management experience in a complex operational environment involving responsibility for human and financial resources. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with many different individuals at various levels, display excellent judgment, critical thinking, and demonstrate an ability to assess complex situations.
Written and spoken competence in English and spoken competence in French is required. Please state your language capability.

The following operational requirement(s) is also required: A valid driver’s license as this position requires travel within the province.

Salary: $104,962 to $115,544 per annum
