EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR- Lakeside Long-Term Care Home
For over 50 years, Extendicare’s qualified and experienced staff and leaders have been helping people live better through a commitment to quality care and service across the spectrum of seniors’ care and services, including homecare, retirement living, long-term care and management and consulting services.
Reporting to the Regional Director, the Executive Director is accountable for overall operations and performance of this 128-bed home and for leading an interdisciplinary team in providing high quality care while creating a safe and healthy Home environment for residents and staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership in the Home to facilitate the achievement of Home’s goals and objectives in alignment with Extendicare’s strategic goals and objectives;
Coach and mentor the Home’s leadership team;
Oversee recruitment and retention of staff and provide regular opportunities for growth and development
Create and role model a positive workplace environment that results in a highly engaged workforce and exceptional resident and family experiences;
Partner with residents, families, the Hospital and the community to improve quality of care outcomes;
Participate in the annual budgeting and capital planning processes and ensure operation of the Home within existing resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
A post-secondary degree from a program that is a minimum of three years in duration, or post-secondary diploma in health or social services from a program that is a minimum of two years in duration (required, subject to the “Existing Administrators OLTCHA Provision” requirement below)
Administrator’s Certification completed or enrolled (minimum 100 hours of instruction time)*
“Ontario Fire Safety: Training for Owners/Operators” Course Certificate
Minimum three years experience subject to the “Existing Administrators OLTCHA Provision” requirement
Experience in a leadership role in the health or social services sector, or other managerial or supervisory capacity, if already successfully completed the Long Term Care Administrator Certificate
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong leadership skills
Superb organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
Service excellence focused attitude, with an emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
Ability to generate creative solutions and new approaches to daily challenges
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety practices, principles, and legislation
Sound knowledge of basic accounting principles and applicable legislation
Knowledge of the changing health care system is an asset
- Existing Administrators OLTCHA Provision
Persons working or employed as Administrators on July 1, 2010, who do not have the above required qualifications, and who have continued to work in that position may be hired as Administrators if they:
Have worked or been employed for at least three years as a long-term care home Administrator, and,
Have successfully completed a program in long-term care home administration or management or, subject to the requirements of the OLTCHA, are enrolled in a program in long-term care home administration or management that meets the requirements of the Act.
