The Ministry of Agriculture is seeking a dynamic leader for the role of Executive Director, Programs Branch. As a member of the senior leadership team, and reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister Programs, you will provide leadership and strategic direction, and manage a team of employees engaged in the development, delivery and evaluation of agriculture program priorities for Saskatchewan.
The Executive Director is part of a high-performing team involved in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Ministry’s strategic plan, with the mandate to enable a globally competitive, thriving and sustainable agriculture and food sector. This position plays a key role in managing relationships with stakeholders and represents the Ministry on committees, both internal and external to government. You will bring knowledge of the agriculture sector, public policy development, human resource management, and planning and accountability.
As our ideal candidate, you will be a visionary leader who is strategic, collaborative and innovative, is able to build organizational community, and possesses superior diplomacy and communication skills. Typically, candidates would have a master’s degree in agriculture, or a combination of education and experience, as well as management experience.

Technical / Industry Knowledge:
Knowledge of agriculture industry issues, trends and emerging growth opportunities in Saskatchewan, Canada and internationally;
Knowledge of program development, delivery and evaluation;
Knowledge of human resource and budget management; and
Knowledge of government procedures including legislation, policy development and decision making, and planning and accountability.
