Faculty, Television & Video Production

BCIT’s Broadcast and Media Communications department, requires a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Instructor to teach students in the Television & Video Production program, during September to December 2021. Duties include – and are not limited to – delivery of lecture material including equipment training, supervisory activities; advising students; invigilating exams; assessment and marking; maintaining student records; course development; moderating online discussions; serving and attending program and departmental meetings.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Relevant diploma, or equivalent combination of education and related experience

Technical knowledge and experience operating professional production equipment including cameras, field mixers and portable and studio lighting

A current practice and knowledge of single camera field production within the last 10 years

A current practice and knowledge of live multi-camera production, including control room, audio mixing and studio operations within the last 10 years

Minimum five years’ relevant experience within the last 15 years

Ability to prepare, deliver and administer a relevant, applied course to, and provide coaching and assessment of, full-time studies (day-school) post-secondary students, in an effective manner that promotes learner motivation and successful acquisition of skills and knowledge

Excellent English-language communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team environment.

  • Able to work during the hours of 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, weekdays.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Provincial Instructor Diploma

Relevant degree in a related education field

Post-secondary instructional skills

Salary Range $56,845 – $99,571 per annum

Additional Salary Information

Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
