FireSmart Coordinator
Temporary Part-time
(approximately 16 hours per week, June 2021 – January 2022)
Working within our Emergency Program, we are seeking an individual to undertake a temporary position involved in public education, promotional and community relations work related to FireSmart safety awareness within the City of Pitt Meadows.
This position will be involved in facilitating, coordinating, planning and organizing FireSmart related activities, including making recommendations to homeowners, community outreach and facilitating FireSmart 101 sessions. You may also attend tradeshows, wildfire preparedness days and community public events and participate in the development of tabletop exercises. The successful applicant will have excellent communication, leadership and presentation skills, as well as sound knowledge of fire and public safety education, emergency management, fire prevention and emergency preparedness along with a passion for public safety.
The successful candidate will have completed a post-secondary diploma in Forestry or a related field and have some related FireSmart and/or wildfire management behaviour experience, but an equivalent combination of training and experience would also be considered.
This is a time durated CUPE position with a salary of $30.84 per hour, plus 10% in lieu of benefits.
