Under the direction of the Fleet Director, the Fleet Manager will manage the supply, repair and maintenance of equipment used to support field activities at one or more local facilities and work sites.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the maintenance, repair, and oversight of all equipment for assigned facilities and work sites in accordance with Civil West equipment standards.
Responsible for the operational performance of the equipment department.
Responsible for maintaining all equipment in good working order.
Implement department objectives and strategies to maintain an effective equipment program within the boundaries of department policy.
Act as a technical advisor to field equipment personnel to ensure projects are completed on time.
Assist the management team with final equipment budgets and potential equipment purchases to meet budgetary goals.
Maintain communications with local equipment dealers and appropriate vendors.
Provide overall direction to the Fleet Department including training, performance review of personnel, and recommending promotion and transfers of staff to ensure department success.
Ensure Fleet and Equipment is managed, costed and tracked through SAP and associated systems.
Manage and direct effective maintenance and repair, equipment safety programs, and equipment utilization on company projects to ensure regional safety goals are met.
Responsible to ensure that vehicle maintenance and fleet administration programs are developed and followed.
Ensure the accurate tracking of inventory records, location, service reports, and documentation.
Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
Ensure strong communication and direction between local facilities and work sites.
Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Required Knowledge and Experience
Minimum 10 years related construction tools and equipment experience.
Journeyperson certificate (Red Seal) Heavy Equipment technician.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to travel to local facilities and work sites.
Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Experience with SAP fleet and equipment management. considered an asset.
Computer literate in MS office products.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
General Knowledge of construction practices (excavating, grading, paving, etc.)
