        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

The Community Ministries/Food Bank Supervisor provides leadership, and supervision on the day-to-day operations of the Food Bank Warehouse.  Provides support and leadership to a broad community-based program of our ministry unit.  Maintains standards, mission, and values as set out by The Salvation Army.

HOURS:

  • 40 hours a week, Full Time

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as an active team member of The Salvation Army Penticton Community Churches management team.
  • Knows The Salvation Army Mission, and Values, and ensures they are followed.
  • Evaluates the Day-to-Day operations to ensure the daily goals are met.
  • Ensure we have a spiritual focus on all our program initiatives.
  • Works on Programs that will link client assistance to our church family, and church programs when ever possible.
  • Engage in ongoing planning to ensure we are meeting our client’s needs. This may require policy and procedure adjustments as authorized by the Corps Officers.
  • Monitors the programs to ensure all contractual, legal, and internal accreditation requirements are met.
  • Contributes to policy and procedures for the Community Ministries programs in consultation with the Community Ministries Director.
  • Must be involved in the local Emergency Disaster Programs, assist in emergencies as required.
  • In conjunction with the CMD and Volunteer Coordinator, provides visibility in social media, and public relations.
  • Participates in and develops recommendations for staff hiring, orientation, training, PEAC evaluation, development, recognition (in concert with Territorial standards).
  • Communicates with the Volunteer Coordinator volunteer requirements and needs. Provides feedback to the Coordinator orientation, training, evaluation, development, recognition, the discipline of volunteers. In Concert with Territorial standards.
  • Submits incident reports to Administration. Acts on corrective procedures as required.
  • Participates in the annual budgetary meetings as required.
  • Operates inside annual budget constraints as guided by the financial analysis monthly.
  • Monitors maintenance records and provides maintenance plan as it relates to tools and equipment, and vehicles in conjunction with the CMD (Community Ministry Director)
  • Monitors inventory levels of food and goods ensure proper rotation of same. Ensure food and goods are delivered to clients, and ministry partners to make the certain proper rotation to reduce spoilage of food and goods.
  • Completes client in-takes and guide full-time intake worker on a relief basis.
  • Ensures accurate information in all programs such as Link 2 Feed, and SAMIS.
  • Evaluates and maintains systems enhancements to ensure and maintain efficient operations.
  • Manages and develops and implements various fundraising, and Food Drive initiatives in conjunction with our Management Team, and community partners.
  • Responds to in consultation with the management team internal and external organizational inquiries.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

The successful applicant will have completed up to 2 years of college, or a related combination of education or experience.

Education/Certifications:

  • Valid class 5 Drivers license
  • Food Safe Training
  • Universal precautions
  • First Aid Training
  • Non crisis violence intervention training

Experience:

  • Wide range of Social Service programs
  • Managing People and recourses
  • Good communication skills written/verbal
  • Experience with government funding would be an asset

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Requires attentive listening
  • High attention to policy/procedure strategic development

Preferred Skills / Capabilities:

  • Give input into budgetary requirements
