        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prays with and or leads people to faith in Jesus Christ as opportunity permits
  • Plans and conducts, pastoral care programs (including on-going visitation and personal care), activities,
    outreach programs and Bible studies for community members, clients and staff as applicable
  • Assists community members, clients and staff towards achieving personal and spiritual well being
  • Works as a team member with other pastoral care givers in problem-solving for the benefit of individuals; may
    act as a member of a case management team
  • Communicates in an empathetic and influential manner with clients, congregants, families, staff and
    community agencies; maintains written records / logs of activities (including activity reports and statistical
    information)
  • Recruits, interviews, trains, orients, documents, and monitors all volunteers coordinating their involvement in
    program delivery
  • Refers community members and clients to representatives of other faith communities as needed
  • Knows and acts in accordance with security procedures of the facility to ensure safety and confidentiality of
    community members, clients or staff (e.g. contact with emergency response)
  • May act in an intake capacity, admitting clients following standard criteria
  • May serve on Salvation Army Councils and Committees
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • The successful job applicant will have completed High School, plus specialized courses of up to six (6) months.
  • Bible College Certificate and/or certification in the social services field, would be considered an asset
  • Strong service ethic will be team oriented & have the ability to take initiative
  • Willingness to work with people from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds
  • Criminal Record Check, CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
