Description
The Janitor is responsible for the general cleanliness and upkeep of the building and grounds
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures the general upkeep of the facility such as resident dorms, cleaning the floors, washrooms, windows, dusting, collects and disposes of garbage
- Checks, cleans, moves, arranges and dusts furniture as required
- Ensures the general upkeep of external property such as keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice, cleaning the main floor outside windows, picking up litter and sweeping sidewalks
- Checks doors and windows to ensure building and resident safety
- Restocks washroom supplies and distributes received material as required
- Spot washes accessible walls, washes and waxes floors
- Performs a number of minor repairs and duties in a variety of trade areas such as carpentry, plumbing and painting; reports safety concerns and major repair issues
- Changes linens (i.e. Bedding), following hazardous materials procedures
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- Public School and/or High School Graduate (an alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable)
Experience:
- More than three months but less than one year, prior related experience, including life skills, and general familiarity with cleaning and maintenance procedure
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- The performance of the job requires operating industrial cleaning equipment and tools, mopping and sweeping, bending/twisting/lifting, occasional ladder work and fine motor skills.
- The incumbent is required to lift more than 20 pounds
Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:
- A clear criminal record check
- Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring, as well as updated annually
HOURS: 40 hours per week. Wednesday – Sunday
