        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Registered Early Childhood Educator Position Available at our Noah’s Ark Child Care Centre

We are seeking committed individuals who will be available to work split shift in a Before & After School Program at our Brampton Noah’s Ark Child Care Centre.  30 hours per week

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Nurture each child to grow spiritually, emotionally, intellectually and physically
  • Promote a sense of belonging, a sense of well-being, the opportunity to engage in learning and the opportunity for each child to express him or herself
  • Treat each child with Love, Dignity and Respect
  • Understand and comply with provincial, municipal and The Salvation Army Policies, Procedures and Standards including new COVID-19 Policies and Procedures
  • Plan and implement a consistent child-centred program in accordance with “How Does Learning Happen”
  • Provide high quality experiences based on the children’s interests
  • Provide within the environment various areas where children can explore, play happily and safely, ask questions and where hands on learning can take place with the involvement and support of the Educator
  • Carry out all daily routines following the center’s policies & procedures
  • Complete enhanced cleaning as per our COVID-19 Sanitary Practices Policy
  • Maintain positive communication with parents through daily contact & our app
  • Adheres to work schedule to ensure program stays within ratio and provides required adequate notice to supervisor regarding unexpected scheduling changes
  • Ability to work within a team and be part of a large multi-service, Christian charitable Organization
  • Attends staff meetings, required training and all other relevant professional development opportunities necessary for the position. Maintains qualifications and certifications as required by the provincial standards
  • Participate in parent nights and special events such as Christmas concerts, fundraising, field trips, Church programs, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Designate if Supervisor is away

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Early Childhood Education Diploma from an Ontario Applied Arts and Technology or University
  • Registered member and in good standing with the Collage of Early Childhood Educators
  • Food Handlers Certificate an asset
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle an asset (travel to multiple locations)
  • Standard First Aid & Level C CPR

Experience:

  • Preference would be given to those who have previous experience working in a Child Care or working with groups of children

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Oral and written skills in order to work with children, parents and other staff
  • Knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act, How Does Learning Happen and Early Learning Framework
  • Ability to use frequent light to medium physical effort: lifting up to 20 kg (44 lbs.), bending and stooping
  • Must be able to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily year-round; may be exposed to heat, humidity or cold
  • Flexibility regarding assigned working hours Monday to Friday, able to work split shifts, early morning and mid-late afternoons

Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:

  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A clean drivers abstract
  • Updated Medical completed
  • Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring, as well as updated annually

HOURS: 30 hours per week
