POSITION PROFILE – GENERAL MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

The General Manager is responsible for the restaurant operations including, but not limited to, guest service, cost controls, overall profitability, staff hiring and training, legislative requirements and general maintenance. Specific roles and responsibilities are as follows:

Leadership:
To ensure that there are open lines of communication with all staff and managers

To coach and mentor all staff and managers to maximize efficiency

To lead by example by being a Brand Ambassador of our Brand Pillars consistently

To represent the company in a professional manner

To attend company functions and meetings as required

Possess strong communication and leadership qualities

Ensure daily shift huddles are being conducted with each shift to communicate expectations

To ensure a positive working environment at all times

Provide an energetic and enthusiastic atmosphere

Provide regular feedback to staff and managers to maximize productivity

Restaurant Operations:
Responsible for all aspects of the day to day floor management

Responsible for all aspects of the office and its organizational set up

Responsible for gift certificate and cash floats

Be the liaison to the Support Centre – ex. Regional Manager

Ensure overall guest satisfaction through our personalized service model and quality food and beverage

100% execution of all tier events

To ensure 100% adherence to all systems, standards, recipes, restaurant cleanliness and general maintenance

Responsible for all audit results meeting standards; prepare action plans to maintain or improve

Ensure table visits are minimum 90%, own the 1st five tables of your shift

Ensure event calendars are being updated and communicated regularly

Respond to all guest comments within 48 hours

Responsible for all secret shop and guest survey results are within approved benchmarks

Responsible for Business Review results and executing 90 day Business Plans

Approve appropriate in-restaurant incentive programs

Ensure restaurant is compliant with all safe food handling, health & safety, WHMIS and AGCO requirements

Responsible for timely and accurate reporting to Support Centre

Ensure all company records are easily accessible and organized

Cost Controls & Profitability:
Responsible for overall restaurant budgets, profitability, sales, and costs

Responsible for weekly and monthly financial results

Responsible for all service contracts

Address Repair & Maintenance issues; reference budget accordingly and maintain up-to- date records

Ensure food and beverage inventories are being conducted weekly; costs are reported accurately; variances are analyzed and monitored

Review and adjust par levels seasonally, or as required

Ensure schedules are being costed out weekly, approved and posted by the deadline date; ensure total labour is in line with set budget

Review statements from vendors to ensure accuracy; follow up on invoicing errors and/or credits

Analyze P&L for discrepancies; compare expenses to budget; review and create action plans to maximize profitability

HR – Training & Development:
To ensure on-going training and development of managers and staff

To ensure all staff and managers are effective in their job roles

Ensure management schedule is consistent with business requirements and objectives are set

Approve new hires and ensure that they are trained and tested as per Shoeless Joe’s standard

To ensure that staff meetings are ongoing

To ensure staff performance reviews and one on ones are being conducted regularly

Conduct management performance reviews; minimum twice a year for each manager

Ensure approval of all terminations

Responsible for weekly management meetings and ongoing follow up

Responsible to inform management of weekly budgets, forecasts and actual results

To ensure communication method is in place for managers and being utilized (logbook, Shift Notes)

Marketing & Sales Building:
Marketing initiatives are planned with Marketing Support Team and executed as per pre-set objectives

Drive top line sales through target marketing

Execute chain wide promotions with 100% adherence

Ensure Local Store Marketing budget is utilized and documented appropriately; using available marketing tools and systems – LSM toolkit, Marketing Portal

Ensure community involvement through local business, schools and sporting community partnerships; build and maintain positive relationships

Maintain approved content on social media platforms – Instagram, Facebook, website etc…

Maintain restaurant atmosphere according to Shoeless Joe’s brand guidelines
