Generalist Educators

Currently, we are looking for generalist educators to join our team. While we offer a variety of learning opportunities, the educators fulfilling his role are able to teach two or more core subjects: Mathematics, English Language Arts, Social Studies, and/or Science, at the elementary level for children in grades PreK-7.

We are looking for educators who are passionate, and who will use curriculum as the foundation to foster a love of learning, and encourage learners to become curious of the world around them.

All classes are provided online, and in this role, educators design their class to fit their teaching style, age group, and curriculum content. This includes unit and lesson plans, assigning of practice, review of student work, feedback, and grading. Hours will be part-time from 1 – 30 hrs a week depending on your availability and class demands.

Qualifications & Requirements

– Established proficiency in the subjects applying for.
– Understanding of different teaching methodologies and educational needs.
– Proven experience in teaching Science (Newly certified educators may submit practicum reports to demonstrate experience).
– Passionate about working with children and ability to create community.
– Ability to model problem solving, critical thinking, and adaptation of math skills to real life applications.
– Teacher Certification in any province in Canada.
– Have their own computer (laptop or desktop) capable of running zoom software, web camera, microphone and a quiet distraction free teaching space.
– Maintain a reliable and fast Internet connection
– Be willing to verify identity and complete annual criminal record check
– Be a resident of Canada
– Adhere to Northern Lights Academy’s (and associated partners) class content policies
– Maintain high professional standards in respect to association guidelines, internal and parental communication, and teacher conduct.
– Willing to complete training as required by alliance partners/associates
– Willing to attend ongoing internal professional development training
