Oscar Blackburn School is a Nursery to Grade 10 school with approximately 270 students. It is located in
South Indian Lake, which is a community with a population of approximately 1000 people. It is located 130
air-kilometers northwest of Thompson, MB. Road access into South Indian Lake is approximately 327 kms,
year round gravel road and a short ferry ride. This lakeside town offers community services such as a
grocery store, health complex, daycare and a community hall.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education Degree
- Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for)
- A sound knowledge of provincial Early Years curricula
- Previous Early Years teaching experience
- Strong classroom management skills
- Experience working in a northern community
- Knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life
- Experience working with students with unique needs
- A commitment to differentiated instruction
- A willingness to inquire into best practices and reflect on practices
- A team player committed to the belief that all students can learn
- Self-motivated
