Stevenson Island School is a Nursery to Grade 9 school with 21 students and 2 teaching staff working in

multilevel classrooms. The school is located on an island in the beautiful community of Stevenson Island

(Island Lake), Manitoba. The community has approximately 90 residents and is one and a half hours flying

time northeast of Winnipeg. Daily air service is available between Winnipeg and Stevenson Island. This

lakeside community offers services such as a Northern store, outdoor rink, federal nursing station, RCMP

Detachment, community hall, and indoor curling rink.

This position will teach all subjects in a multi-grade classroom plus Physical Education.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Education Degree
• Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for)
• A sound knowledge of provincial curricula
• Previous teaching experience
• Strong classroom management skills
• Experience working in a northern community
• Knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life
• Experience working with students with unique needs
• A commitment to differentiated instruction
• A willingness to inquire into best practices and reflect on practices
• A team player committed to the belief that all students can learn
• Self-motivated
