Guidance Counsellor/50 % Instructional Resource Teacher (Term Position)

Location: Churchill Falls
Eric G. Lambert School is a K-12 private school of 149 students and 19 teaching units. It is operated by Nalcor Energy – Churchill Falls and follows the prescribed curriculum of the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education.
As the Guidance Counsellor/Instructional Resource Teacher, you will be responsible for providing guidance counselor services to EGLS as well as providing support to the special education team in delivering services to students. This will occur as an approximate 50/50 split in time allocation. Our guidance services will require career and personal counselling and the successful candidate must be able to complete various psycho-educational assessments. The IRT role will involve working with our Instructional Resource Teacher to program plan and deliver various support services to our students.
You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the Corporation’s Safety and Health Program. You will also be responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.
The successful candidate will have completed a Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) or equivalent from a recognized university as well as a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology/Counselling Psychology or equivalent from a recognized university. A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Teaching Certificate or eligibility to receive a Newfoundland and Labrador Teaching Certificate is required (minimum Certificate V preferred). Knowledge of and experience in conducting various psycho-educational assessment is required. Experience in a similar role would be a definite asset. Experience being a part of or leading teams for Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and RTL would also be a definite asset. Other combinations of experience and qualifications may also be considered.
A fly in and fly out on a rotational basis could also be considered for 50% Guidance Counsellor.
