Salary:
$41.84 – $49.70/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional $0.50/hour in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.
Description:
NLC’s Health Care Assistant (HCA) Program requires a temporary full-time instructor to deliver theory, lab, and clinical courses for students who will simultaneously be employed as Health Care Support Workers in non-clinical roles.
This intake is offered under the Health Care Assistant Partnership Pathway, a government initiative intended to increase British Columbia’s HCA labor force. Theory courses will be delivered online, through both synchronous and asynchronous platforms, to students in Dawson, Chetwynd, Fort Nelson, and Fort St. John.
The successful candidate will also deliver lab and clinical content face-to-face in Dawson Creek while coordinating the efforts of lab and clinical instructors in other communities.
Qualifications:
Required:
Completion of an accredited Diploma in Practical Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
Current, full practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as an LPN or as an RN;
Minimum of two years (full-time equivalent) of recent Canadian Nursing experience with relevant knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system and of the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members (experience should also include home support and multi-level complex care for older adults);
Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners: e.g., completion of (or satisfactory progress in) the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program; or previous teaching experience with satisfactory evaluations; or, where PIDP or teaching evaluations are absent, teaching ability must be demonstrated during the interview process;
Ability to contribute as a team member;
Committed to student motivation and achievement; and
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
