Health Education Coordinator
If you’re interested in the field of Sexual Health and Harm Reduction, we’re interested in you!
Focusing on health programs with an emphasis in safer sex and partying, safer drug use, harm reduction, HIV/AIDS, and Hep C education you will:
Design, develop and deliver prevention education workshops and events to at risk populations in Whitehorse, including: street-involved youth, people who use injection drugs, people who are incarcerated or criminal justice system involved, people who are street involved insecurely housed or homeless, and people engaged in sex work;
Design, coordinate and deliver social justice and awareness events: Support Don’t Punish, World Hepatitis Day and International Overdose Awareness Day;
Coordinate, monitor and engage program volunteers;
Design and deliver condom awareness programs;
Deliver front line advocacy, support and harm reduction programs;
Design and coordinate social media accounts in relation to health education
You have:
Experience delivering health education programs in workshops or classroom setting;
Experience developing community or sexual health programs;
Knowledge of HIV & STI’s, Hepatitis C and Harm Reduction;
Knowledge of the social determinants of health and their relationship to HIV, STI’s and Hep C;
Cultural competence in relation to Indigenous people;
Communication, organizational and event planning skills;
Experience with managing social media platforms;
Post-secondary training in a relevant field;
Passion for advocacy and social justice issues
