Description
Under the general supervision of the Operations Manager maintains a high standard of cleanliness in assigned areas.
This position requires a union membership and the deduction of union dues.
Hours:
- 37.5 hours per week
- Schedule: Monday-Friday; 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in keeping the facility in a clean and orderly condition by performing one or more of a variety of janitorial and housekeeping tasks. May include outside grounds and windows. Work may require the use of a power vacuum, polisher, etc.
- Under direct supervision for recurring tasks and close supervision only for new assignments, follow established procedures, and maintains cleanliness in accordance with established standards.
- Has responsibility for planning and completing own work within scheduled deadlines.
- May be assigned security responsibilities regarding dormitories.
- Reports maintenance problems and substandard housekeeping expected of residents and clients.
- Does housekeeping and kitchen laundry daily.
- When clients are present, perform responsibilities with an awareness of the effect of actions on clients.
- Tidies staff lounge on the second floor after the staff afternoon coffee break.
- Maintains accurate records of room cleaning and resident belongings storage.
- May be assigned other related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- No specific educational requirements.
- Occupational First Aid and Infectious Disease Control training are required within six months of starting position.
Experience:
- Six months of related Janitorial experience is required.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Must understand and reflect the ARC Philosophy, Standards, and Tenets.
- Must be able to follow instructions, both verbal and written, work co-operatively with others, and complete to a satisfactory level all assigned tasks.
Other:
- Must provide own safety work boots.
- Must submit the result of a T.B. skin test
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent

- Clean drivers abstract
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
