        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Description

This is a casual position with no guarantee of hours. Although there are no weekly hours of work guaranteed for this position, there is the potential of working up to 24 hours per week during the current pandemic. Flexibility in scheduling is required.  The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility.  The operational hours of this facility are 24 hours per day.

This is a unionized facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Floors and horizontal surfaces are cleaned regularly.
  • Disinfectant is used when required for the protection of residents and staff.
  • Floors and walls are maintained and cleaned regularly.
  • Deodorizers are not to be used to cover up odours caused by unsanitary conditions or poor housekeeping practices.
  • Empty and clean wastepaper baskets and reline as needed.
  • Change and make all bedding in resident rooms as required or necessary.
  • Clean all residents’ rooms with a damp cloth, wipe fixtures, shelves, ledges and all other high touch surfaces with a germicidal cleaner. Remove all refuge from room.  Dry and wet mop floors and place signage as required.
  • Clean all bathrooms with a damp cloth, wipe fixtures, shelves and ledges with germicidal solution. Sanitize toilets inside and out.  Replenish supply of toilet tissue, paper towel and hand soap/sanitizer.
  • Clean all Staff Rooms, Nursing Stations, etc. with a damp cloth; wipe counters, clean sinks, and spot clean exteriors of cabinets, cupboards and refrigerator.
  • Terminal cleaning will be completed upon a room when a resident is discharged.  In addition to regular cleaning, carbolizing of the bed furniture and bathroom fixture will be completed.  All curtains will be removed and sent down from laundering.
  • Staff will complete any extra assignments as set out by the Director of Environmental Services.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 months of experience in a clinical or health care environment, long term care setting is preferred
  • Experience working directly with the public (e.g. customer service, patient relations)
  • Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
  • Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
  • TB test is required
