NAIT’s Crane & Hoist Equipment Operator programs prepare students to operate any mobile crane or boom truck. As well as training them in advanced rigging practices for any load they may encounter as a crane operator.

Crane & Hoist Equipment Operator programs at our Spruce Grove Campus is currently recruiting for a salary instructor who is an energetic leader, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. The successful candidate will:

have strong technical knowledge

be able to work both independently and within a team environment

bring passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the program and the culture of our collaborative and dynamic team

Please note for the upcoming academic year due to Covid19 and NAIT’s Relaunch plans, classes will be delivered online with some labs and shops being held on campus when student learning outcomes cannot be met through virtual delivery. Staff will be working from home unless they need to be on campus to teach a lab or shop where virtual delivery is not possible.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting

Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews

Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials

Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment

Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records

Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention

Respond to student issues

Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions

Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly

Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners

Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT 2021, NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute

Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement

Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities

Other duties as assigned

Skills & Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal Skills

Strong desire to help students succeed

Excellent communication skills

Strong knowledge of computers

Qualifications:
Completion of a related Journeyperson certificate required, with an Inter-Provincial Red Seal an asset

Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Mobile Crane Journeyperson ticket

Teaching experience a strong asset

Remuneration: Salary will commensurate with education & experience

This position is covered by the NASA Collective Agreement.
