Job Summary

The School of Creative Arts at the University of the Fraser Valley is seeking two (2) dynamic and versatile instructors for one-year Limited Term Faculty appointments. The successful applicants will each be expected to teach a total of seven (7) sections selected from a list of introductory and foundations courses, such as VA 113 (Introduction to Drawing) and VA 115 (Introductory Studio I: Material Practices) as well as selected 200- or 300-level courses in the studio areas of drawing, painting, or digital media. The successful applicants will be expected to teach a wide range of these courses. Please note that courses may change as timetable needs evolve through the year.

The successful applicants will also contribute to providing an excellent student experience through participation in the life of the School of Creative Arts and University. They are expected to serve on committees and complete extra-curricular service work equivalent to the committee duties of a full-time faculty member.

Duties of Limited Term faculty fall within Article 18.2 (Teaching Faculty Duties) of the Collective Agreement, specifically the Teaching and Service components.

Qualifications

The successful applicants must have a (minimum) MFA coupled with recent and relevant professional artistic practice. We are seeking an energetic and innovative instructosr with substantial experience teaching these or similar courses at the post-secondary level, as well as a track record of excellence in teaching. Strong experience incorporating Indigenous perspectives, successfully fostering a diverse and internationalized classroom community, and responding to the needs of diverse students is an asset. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Previous experience teaching online is an asset, as workload may entail a mix of in-person classes and online classes.
