Intern

BCIT’s School of Business is seeking a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Intern. The Intern assists the Associate Director, Global Relations and other leaders in the School of Business related to areas such as project management, continuous improvement, reviewing and recommending procedures, and report design and generation while learning the fundamental mission, structure and operations associated with the School of Business administration and the Institute overall. The Intern assists with developing, implementing, and planning recruitment and marketing content in conjunction with the School’s marketing team, and is required to assist with planning and coordination of activities and events.

Duties & Responsibilities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Researches, writes, and edits various marketing products including brochures, website articles, collateral material, backgrounders, presentations, and other written materials.
  • Builds presentations and supporting materials that support internal marketing initiatives.
  • Prepares reports, presentations, operational documents and correspondence containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content related to business and operational activities.
  • Conducts research for special projects related to School of Business goals on ongoing basis, including best practices studies, data analysis, and market-based research.
  • Utilizes the capabilities and functions of standard office software applications such as data management, spreadsheet, presentation and word processing in completing assigned projects
  • Participates in a variety of meetings as assigned by the Leadership Team.
  • Participates in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices, policies and procedures (both BCIT and FOIPOP).
  • Undertakes related duties as assigned consistent with the job grade for this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of Grade 12, plus two years of post-secondary education in business, digital media, marketing or public relations.
  • Two years of general experience, plus two years of experience in marketing, business, or journalism.
  • MS Office at the intermediate level.
  • Experience with online content publishing, such as WordPress, Marqui, SproutSocial.
  • Excellent writing skills and strong oral communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships by exercising tact and diplomacy while maintaining the highest levels of professionalism.
  • Must demonstrate initiative, be able to work independently and as a team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, plan and manage multiple projects, and effectively handle changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to deliver.
  • A desire to efficiently master new tools and skills and put those skills into action.
  • Proven experience in writing engaging, concise content for marketing materials.

Please note: These are the minimum required qualifications. This position is a dayshift position as defined in Article 14.1 of the Collective Agreement.

Salary Range
Pay Grade 4; $43,593 to $46,897 per annum

Additional Salary Information

External hires are initially placed at the minimum of the salary range with progression to the maximum. Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment.
