ISON Affiliate member or Faculty Lecturer Nil Salary (Part-Time)

Criteria for Nil Salary (Part-Time) Appointment at the Ingram School of Nursing

(Affiliate and Faculty Lecturer)

The Ingram School of Nursing (ISoN) values the contribution of clinically based nurses and other health professionals who contribute to its mission of educating current and future nurses, advancing the art and science of nursing, and optimizing health and health equity globally through academic excellence, strengths-based nursing and innovation.

A Nil-Salary appointment may be offered to an individual in recognition of ongoing involvement at the ISoN. For nurses, eligibility includes active membership with l’Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ). Applicants must demonstrate dedication (past, current, and/or future initiatives) in the academic duties of education, service, and/or research at ISoN.

An affiliate appointment (unranked) involves demonstrated involvement in one category of academic duties, whereas a faculty lecturer appointment (ranked) involves involvement in two categories. Both affiliate and faculty lecturer positions are nil-salary part-time appointments. These appointments offer opportunities for mentorship, leadership, and professional development while nurturing the future generation of nursing leaders. Academic appointment gives access to the electronic system of McGill Libraries and a McGill email.

For consideration, the applicant submits the following documents:

An electronic version of an updated curriculum vitae

A letter of intent containing the following:
A statement about the candidates’ motivation to apply and an outline of past and future contributions to ISoN

Specific details as to how the candidate will be involved in their mandate (1-3 years)

Two names of ISoN faculty members with whom they will be working and who can serve as references

The description of their past or potential contributions to ISoN should focus on the following categories:

Teaching

Research and Other Scholarly activities

Administration and Practice

A letter of support from the Affiliated Institution’s Director of Nursing or their designate should be included in the application for appointment.

Appointed clinically based faculty members are engaged to fulfill the roles outlined in their position descriptions, in the areas of administration, teaching, and/or research as outlined in their letters of offer. At the time of re-appointment, contributions in the last three years will be assessed.

In addition, appointees are invited to maintain regular contact with ISoN through their preferred contact information. The appointee is expected to keep track of their contributions to the ISoN mandates as this will be important information for renewal purposes.

Any changes in employment status (retirement, change of institution or role) or availability to contribute to ISoN are to be communicated promptly to ISoN Director of Nursing at [email protected] . In the event that the appointee is no longer active at ISoN or is unable to fulfill their roles, the appointment may end according to the policies in place.
