        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

The Salvation Army’s Southview Heights and Terrace is a Senior Residence located in South Vancouver.

We are currently hiring for casual Janitorial staff that wish to work in a warm and loving environment.

This person would be doing checks during the night for both buildings, be able to perform janitorial duties, and provide emergency response as required.

Hours:   

  • Casual/On-call (24 hour facility)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read and sign communication book daily
  • Sweep/mop floors, moving items such as carts & floor mats as per schedule
  • Garbage and recycling removal as per schedule
  • Clean and sanitize common area washrooms, offices and other areas as per schedule
  • Clean heavy black chairs in recreation room as per schedule
  • Clean commercial kitchen ovens, stove tops, grills and walls as per schedule
  • Tea room coffee machine to be cleaned/refilled when needed
  • Shovel & salt entrance ways when required
  • Accommodate requested duty assignments from Support Services Supervisor regarding unexpected work related situations that may arise from time to time
  • Write in maintenance book requesting repair services
  • Inform Support Services Supervisor when supplies are getting low
  • Follow schedules and rotations of cleaning where applicable
  • Keep outside grounds, gazebo, stairwells and drains clear of leaves and garbage.
  • Do rounds of complete building as instructed, ensuring all doors and windows are secure.
  • Receive phone calls to the Southview when required
  • Notify Operations and Business Manager of plumbing, electrical and heating emergencies and arrange for emergency repairs.
  • Provides emergency response to residents of Southview Terrace according to procedure and will assist Heights as required
  • Ensure the evacuation of residents in case of fire/earthquake according to procedure.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school graduate.
  • Building Service Worker Certificate
  • WHMIS training/certificate.

Experience:

  • Two years’ experience in janitorial or similar related position.
  • Experience working with seniors and/or individuals with cognitive and physical challenges preferred.

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • A TB Test
  • A clean drivers abstract
