The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon. BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Volunteer Coordination: Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes Donation Coordination: Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s) Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors Perform other duties as assigned   Qualifications Education/Certifications: Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields Required Skills/Knowledge: Excellent organizational skills Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner Proven ability to multitask Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone Excellent written communication skills Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others Be able to lift up to 30 lbs   PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: Valid BC Driver’s License Background check consent A clear vulnerable sector screening A clean drivers’ abstract Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Description

This is a casual relief position with no guaranteed hours.  Flexibility in scheduling is required.  The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility.  Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.  The operational hours of this facility are 12:00am to 11:59pm.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the weekly upkeep of the facility (i.e. empty all garbage receptacles, put garbage out for designated garbage day and return recycling and composite bins when emptied, vacuum all carpeted areas, sweep all tiled areas, wash floors and baseboards in tiled areas, clean all glass areas, windows and ledges, dust all offices and furnishings.
  • Always ensure kitchen cleanliness.
  • Clean and polish sinks, toilets and counter tops, mirrors and fixtures.
  • Clean washrooms (toilets, sinks, floors) and restock washrooms supplies
  • Wipe down all tables, chairs and door handles
  • Checks, cleans, moves, arranges and dust furniture as required.
  • Identify/report to supervisor any repairs that may require an external service provider.
  • Perform a few minor repairs and duties in a variety of trade areas such as electrical (change light bulbs), carpentry, plumbing and painting, reports safety concerns and major repair issues to supervisor.
  • Spot wash accessible walls and spot cleaning
  • Ensure the general upkeep of external property such as mowing lawn, keeping sidewalks and entrances clear of snow and ice, including salting and litter pick up.
  • Other duties as requested by management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • The successful job applicant will have completed High School.
  • Must have valid WHMIS.
  • Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
