        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

Valid BC Driver’s License

Position Purpose Summary:

The Janitorial-Maintenance Worker is responsible to provide day-to-day maintenance, cleaning and grounds keeping duties to ensure the property is safe, clean and well maintained as well as providing alternate weekend on-call duties.

This is a fixed-term part time position at 20 hours per week, ending July 30, 2022.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

General

  • Accept day-to-day instructions from the Director;
  • Respond to emergencies on an on-call basis;
  • Report any problems or items requiring repair and/or maintenance that he/she notices during execution of his/her duties.
  • Report Electrical and Plumbing deficiencies as appropriate
  • Safely store and maintain all related equipment and supplies in the appropriate storage spaces provided.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions related to the Workplace Health and Safety Committee.

Interior Maintenance

  • Do minor repairs as necessary
  • Do basic painting as required.
  • Miscellaneous minor maintenance e.g. ensuring that interior lights are equipped with operable lights
  • Cutting of keys
  • Repaired damaged furniture

 Exterior Maintenance

  • Keep the exterior of the housing complex safe and in good repair;
  • Keep entrance sidewalks/walkways clear of snow and ice (shoveled or snow blower); apply ice-melter when contractor is unable to do so.
  • Miscellaneous minor maintenance, e.g. ensuring that exterior light fixtures are equipped with operable bulbs, cleaning of outside benches/picnic tables, patio furniture, etc.

Vehicle Maintenance

  • Maintain vehicle fleet by ensuring that vehicle repairs are completed.
  • Ensure fluids (oils, fuel, etc.) are maintained.
  • Clean interior and exterior of vehicles on an as needed basis

Cleaning (in the absence of the custodial team)

  • Clean exterior ground floor windows, glass doors, etc., at entrances and exterior doors.
  • Clean up paper, litter and other refuse from the project site.
  • Clean exterior ground floor windows, glass doors, etc., at entrances and exterior doors.
  • Clean all common areas of Waterston House
  • Refill cleaning supplies to each floor
  • Daily remove garbage and recycling and Organic bins.
  • Remove paper, litter and other refuse from the interior.
  • Vacuum all corridors once per week.
  • Wash and polish floors per task list
  • Clean the Garbage room once per week.
  • Sweep and mop stairwells as required to keep them clean at all times.
  • Clean interior and exterior windows
  • Clean and sanitize common area washrooms

Other Duties

  • Write detailed incident reports and on-call reports, and report serious occurrences immediately to the Director.
  • Assist the Director in inspections of the project when required.
  • Assist in setting up for building events and functions. Respond to all emergencies and monitor the emergency phone when on-site, when Director is absent. Call police, fire or ambulance if required.
  • Undertake any other assignments requested by the Director or designate which is compatible with this job description.
  • Upon request by the Director, the Janitorial-Maintenance Staff will cooperate with and assist resident committees.
  • All Staff are required to attend and assist with any serious emergency on a 24-hour basis; including fire alarms, major floods, major disturbances, etc. when in the building.
  • Able to lift, pull, push install appliances

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

*NOTE: You may be required to provide validated educational documentation.

Education/Certifications:

  • Completion of a high school diploma
  • Knowledge of managing high rise building is an asset
  • General understanding of basic construction/maintenance/mechanical systems and health and safety related issues required
  • Valid driver’s license with a driver’s abstract

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of prior related experience including custodial, computer skills and general electrical/plumbing experience
  • Must have Basic Electrical and Plumbing skills along with good working knowledge of power tools, tractor trailers/lawn care equipment

  • On-call availability required
  • Must physically be able to walk 12,000 steps per day, ability to Lift 40lbs.
