Position Summary

Reporting to the Chair, Advanced Manufacturing and Automation Technology (AMAT), the Job Developer will develop relationships with the employer community to generate employment opportunities for pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship and co-op students, as well as graduates. The incumbent will engage with a variety of organizations within the community to uncover hidden job leads and create employment opportunities for students that complement the learning in their academic programs.

The successful candidate will get to know the College, its programs, faculty and student profile, and will build on internal and external networks, including professional associations and the various employer organizations in the community. Additionally, the Job Developer will analyze student and employer needs; matching employers with students, and develop, monitor and support placement needs.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement outreach strategies to employers and associations to promote hiring

Prospect and source local employers to seek out training opportunities that have potential to lead into full time employment and/or apprenticeships

Build solid, ongoing relationships with employers and participants

Coordinate interviews; review and approve employer applications and match participants with employers

Develop training plans outlining measurable training outcomes and clearly articulated job requirements

Provide guidance and support to both the employer and participant throughout the training process via regular monitoring visits, consultations and evaluation of skill achievement

Identify and resolve any issues between participant and employer

Complete documentation; report training milestones, achievements, and outcomes.

Analyze the local labour market to determine skill development needs and occupational training opportunities/requirements.

Attend job fairs and community industry events to establish new connections and generate leads

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Experience

Three (3) year diploma/degree in Business (i.e. Marketing, Human Resources) or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum of three (3) years of practical related experience in training and job development, including experience in sales/marketing techniques, and employment counselling

Knowledge of the postsecondary sector, Centennial College programs, the Canadian Labor Market and employment trends; strong knowledge of the entry-level job market

Excellent communication skills and strong relationship building and negotiation skills

Ability to work with a diverse client group

Proven track record in a target-based environment with demonstrated success meeting and exceeding performance goals

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and general computer systems

Proof of credentials or equivalencies from accredited regional or federal post secondary institutions and/or their foreign equivalents will be required at the time of job offer.
