DUTIES

Limited Term Contract, Assistant Teaching Professor, Communication

 

The Department of Communication and Visual Arts in the Faculty of Arts at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a limited term bipartite position in Communication. The successful candidate must have the versatility to teach across the theoretical and applied contexts of the Communication program, with an emphasis on communication theory and media studies. Other areas of interest may include strategic communication, rhetoric, and/or Film studies.

 

The successful candidate will be a committed and passionate teacher and have evidence of effective teaching or evidence of potential to be an outstanding teacher committed to scholarly teaching. This position offers a wide range of opportunities to engage in scholarly teaching and mentorship activities outside of the classroom.  Members of the Faculty of Arts also have the opportunity, should they so choose, to teach and supervise in a vibrant, interdisciplinary Master of Arts in Human Rights and Social Justice program. Assistant Teaching Professors at TRU teach eight undergraduate courses during the academic year. The successful candidate will engage in active service work to support and sustain our rich programming, and to contribute to the collegiality of the department, division, and institution.

QUALIFICATIONS

A PhD in Communication, or a closely related discipline, should be held by the time of appointment.   Candidates with a Master’s degree in a related field with significant professional experience may also be considered.  Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and CV, including contact information for three referees.
