Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in Electrical Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2025.

BASIC FUNCTION:

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded research program, to interact with other faculty in our college, and to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate electrical engineering courses.

Outstanding candidates in all areas of electromagnetics/electronics/optics will be considered. This includes but is not limited to

  • Electromagnetic fields.
  • Artificial intelligence/machine learning for electromagnetics/electronics/optics.
  • Radio-frequency, mixed-signal analog and digital integrated circuits.

The Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island offers programs leading to the BS, MS, and PhD degrees. The interdisciplinary nature of our department will provide the new faculty member with opportunities to interact with a broad range of colleagues. Our new 180,000+ square foot engineering building provides an excellent environment for interdisciplinary research collaborations.

Qualifications

Required:

1. An earned doctorate in Electrical Engineering or closely related field at the time of appointment.

2. Demonstrated ability to teach electromagnetic fields at the undergraduate level.

3. Demonstrated record of scholarly achievement in one or more areas of electromagnetics/electronics/optics as evidenced by publications, presentations, or projects.

4. Demonstrated evidence working with diverse groups (not limited to race, ethnicity, and gender).

5. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

6. Demonstrated proficiency in oral communication skills.

Preferred:

1. Research applications of artificial intelligence/machine learning.

2. Ability to develop an externally funded research program.

3. Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
