Description:

The Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy (LDFP) at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position in the areas of Pharmacy, Program Evaluation, and Artificial Intelligence in Pharmacy Education/Practice. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2025.

Candidates must have completed both a BSc PHM or PharmD and PhD degree in Pharmacy, Data Sciences, Health Services, Pharmacy Education-oriented field by the time of appointment with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. All applicants must have a minimum of five years of professional practice experience or teaching experience in a degree granting program/post-secondary institution. Completion of at least a 1-year hospital or ambulatory care pharmacy residency is an asset.

We seek enthusiastic and innovative candidates whose expertise and interests in teaching will readily build connections between basic sciences and clinical practice. To complement our current departmental strengths, we are especially seeking candidates with strength in program evaluation and artificial intelligence.

Candidates must have previous experience that includes a record of excellence in teaching in a degree-granting program/post-secondary institution, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development and implementation of online methods. Candidates should demonstrate the administrative, organizational, and mentoring skills required to coordinate large-size classes, experiential education and the skills necessary to work collaboratively with all members of the department.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry is required and can be demonstrated by teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier (with required materials outlined below), as well as strong letters of reference from referees of high standing specifically highlighting the candidate’s teaching abilities.

A complete teaching dossier includes a teaching statement highlighting the applicant’s capacity to contribute to the LDFP excellence in educational scholarship and committed to pursue novel and innovative methods of thinking, teaching, and pedagogical inquiry; sample course syllabi and materials (either of courses delivered by the candidate or planned for the future), course evaluations; and samples of recent teaching-related scholarly work related to the position.
