Description:

The Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto is seeking applications for the next Gabor Zellerman Chair in Nephrology Research.

The successful candidate will either currently hold, or be eligible to hold, a full-time clinical faculty appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto and hold a primary clinical appointment at the University Health Network. The Chair term is five years, renewable once for a second five-year term. The tentative start date of this appointment is October 1, 2024, or as mutually agreed upon.

The Gabor Zellerman Chair in Nephrology Research was established in 2004 with the intention of building capacity and support for research that contributes significantly to the body of scholarship on nephrology. The successful candidate will run an internationally recognized research program with a broad and inclusive perspective that may consider but is not necessarily limited to the study of the maintenance of kidney health, and/or the epidemiology, pathogenesis, prevention and/or treatment of kidney disease.

The candidate will have demonstrated a record of excellence in scientific productivity and leadership. Consideration will be given to the applicant’s record of scholarly activity including grants, peer-reviewed publications, program development, collaborations with organizations nationally and internationally, supervision of graduate students and fellows and other contributions to the field. The Chairholder will also have a record of sustained excellence in teaching and is expected to provide mentorship to early faculty and trainees across the spectrum of nephrology research. Additionally, they will bring with them strong administrative, and interpersonal, skills.

The endowed chair will support academic activities of the Chairholder, which may include salary support, research operations, and relevant educational events.
