Clinical Education Specialist (Bilingual)

Position Summary

The Clinical Education Specialist is a multifaceted position that includes professional education of both internal and external STERIS customers. This position will assist in the development of clinical educational materials, to support, educate and maintain a cross-functional relationship between sales and STERIS customers and a consultative role to help improve customer processes and assist in trouble shooting sterilization failures. As a shared service, the Clinical Education Specialist will work directly with IPT Capital, Consumable, Surgical Solutions, Endoscopy and Service Teams with direct customer engagement assisting the sales force achieve their financial objectives and provide Customer education and satisfaction with STERIS products and services. 

This is a high travel/commute role with significant driving and likely overnight stays. You will be required to travel within a designated territory to various customer sites via company vehicle or via air travel. This will include day trips, overnight trips, up to a week at a time.

Duties

Professional Education

  • Provides clinical support for key focus products which may include in servicing, customer consultations to develop better Customer processes and develop Customer solutions with STERIS products
  • Based on observations and needs assessment, identify topic(s) for group study or presentation to organizations such as CAMDR, ORNAC, CSGNA, IPAC, MDRAO, CSA etc. For customer education presentations, identify and create new topics based on customer needs, review and update existing presentations based on industry standards to ensure communications are up to date.
  • Plans, generates and provides formal educational seminars, workshops to stimulate product interest and increase sales.

Clinical Support/Education

  • Take a pro-active approach to minimize potential customer issues by providing recommendations to Territory Managers Consumables, Capital Territory Managers Endoscopy Sales Executives, Territory Managers Surgical on customer needs/requirements.
  • Provide clinical expertise with troubleshooting (equipment and machine) and resolve customer issues such as wet pack evaluations supporting and collaborating with Territory Managers, Account Managers, Service Teams, Quality Improvement Team, Regulatory, and R&D as required.

Cross-Functional Relationships

  • Provide ongoing clinical guidance and training to Territory Managers Consumables, Capital Account Managers, Endoscopy Sales Executives and Territory Managers Surgical. As required, provide this team with tender response assistance, addressing clinical requirements, concerns, design and reprocessing guidance for device specific requirements
  • Supports other departments (i.e., Marketing, R&D) through providing clinical expertise in the development and market launch of new products or services as well as concerns with existing products and programs.
  • Works directly with customer, Distributor Representatives, Sales/Service/Customer Support employees and Project Design Managers, for the purpose of providing clinical expertise with strong emphasis on the application of STERIS products via customer visits, presentations, hands-on training and communication (written and oral including French as required).

Consulting

  • Audits customer work processes (Device Processing, OR, GI,) and use of equipment and related accessories to ensure compliance with operating/processing instructions. Based on audit, proactively identify opportunities for improvement and provide recommendations.

Required Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program, Licensed Registered Nurse or MDRT equivalent, required.
  • Five years experience (Hospital expertise in the Medical Device Reprocessing), required.
  • Fluent in speaking/reading/writing English & French, required.
  • Excellent written and oral communications (Bilingual in English/French), required.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, required.
  • Excellent presentation skills before large and small groups, required.
  • Experience providing clinical support for a healthcare industry manufacturer, preferred
  • Understanding of surgical instrumentation and principles of sterilization, preferred.
