Job summary

Applications are invited for the position of Clinical Research Fellow, to work at NHLI and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a highly motivated junior doctor to join a collaborative team of clinicians, basic scientists, and physical scientists working on cardiovascular research. The researcher will focus on delivering prospective studies that test the effectiveness of AI-enabled ECGs in improving patient outcomes. This post is a 3-year position to allow the candidate to do a 3-year PhD.

Duties and responsibilities

The Clinical Research Fellow will deliver prospective studies that test the effectiveness of AI-enabled ECGs in improving patient outcomes. The post holder will work closely with the bioengineers and physical scientists within the multi-disciplinary group. The post holder will also assist with activities of the Clinical Research Facility at West Middlesex Hospital and participate in occasional clinical activities (up to one day a week). It is expected that the work performed by the Clinical Research Fellow will be part of a higher degree (PhD).

Essential requirements

  • Medical qualification with registration at the General Medical Council
  • A background in Cardiology
  • Knowledge of clinical and research governance
  • Evidence of an interest in research
  • Excellent written communications skills and the ability to write technical reports clearly and succinctly for publication
  • Ability to present themselves at conferences and seminars with authority and coherence

This is a is Full Time and Fixed Term post for a duration of 3 years and based at the Hammersmith Campus.

Please note, if you’re not on an approved NHS training programme you will be appointed on the Clinical staff not holding consultant contracts salary scale.

Salary upon appointment will also include an additional London Weighting Allowance of £2,162 per annum (pro rata if applicable).
