The Development Officer provides support and expertise to the Foundation’s fundraising activities, endowed fund management, major grant programs, donor relations, and stakeholder relations. This position reports to the Manager, Communications and Development.

Please note this is a 12-month contract position to cover a maternity leave.

CPA Alberta has offices in Edmonton and Calgary and provides hybrid Telecommuting opportunities (working from home a maximum of 3 days a week).

What you bring

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in business, communications, public relations, arts, or journalism.
  • Some related experience in fundraising, relationship management, and professional writing.
  • Equivalencies will be considered, including degrees or diplomas from programs that include the development of strong writing skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated expository/business writing skills.
  • Experience working in a non-profit is considered an asset.

What you will be doing

  • Developing initiatives to recognize, honour, and steward Foundation donors. These initiatives will include, but not be limited to, publications, web content, social media content, and special events.
  • Developing and implementing fund development initiatives as required.
  • Helping with the promotion and operation of the annual grant funding programs at Alberta post-secondary institutions.
  • Assisting in the implementation of the annual Research Grant Fund program.
  • Contributing to the management of endowed funds, including scholarship administration, reports to donors, and oversight of funds.
  • Supporting Foundation special projects and participating in developing fundraising activities.
  • In collaboration with community partners, advancing Foundation-sponsored programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborating with other departments within CPA Alberta to support programming that aligns with the Foundation’s mandate and special projects.
  • Contributing to the preparation of annual Foundation business plans and quarterly reports to the Board.
  • Liaising with post-secondary institutions on matters related to grants and funding.
  • Supporting the overall work of the Foundation as required.
