Position Description:

The Ingram School of Nursing of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University is seeking applications for a part-time position (2 days per week) (0.4 FTE) as a member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Faculty Lecturer (Professional) with advanced practice nursing and general skills with lab experience and expertise. This is a 2-year definite term appointment that is not subject to renewal and does not confer eligibility for tenure.

The successful candidate will be joining the School at a stimulating time of growth and energy with a recently enlarged number of education and research-focused faculty, major curricular revisions, and a new physical space with state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities. Job Duties:

Responsibilities will include coordinating and teaching approximately 8 credits per year in nursing courses, mainly, in the Undergraduate and Graduate Curricula. Courses may be theoretical, lab/simulation and clinical, in large or small groups, and delivered online and on campus. McGill faculty members are also expected to contribute to service activities within the School, University, and the wider scholarly community. Service activities will include but are not limited to reviewing and updating critical care simulation and practice scenarios.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Minimum requirements for consideration are:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing with an active membership with OIIQ ;
  • Nurse Practitioner expertise an asset;
  • Minimum 3 years of full-time clinical nursing practice;
  • Experience with simulation and debriefing is an asset;
  • Experience in nursing education and clinical supervision of a diverse student body;
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills and fluency in French.

The School is looking for an individual who possess a passion for critical care nursing and educational leadership. Preferred candidates will show evidence of previous teaching experience in a Nursing University program. Evidence of excellence in previous teaching; the ability to communicate effectively; an ongoing focus on fostering positive learning environments; demonstrated experience in applying inquiry-based learning strategies in education; and the ability to work well in teams will be considered assets. Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to–and in accordance with circumstances, a track record in equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).
