Position Description

The McGill University Ingram School of Nursing (ISoN) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is seeking applications for a part-time (3 days per week) position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Faculty Lecturer (Professional). This will be a three-year, renewable appointment and does not confer eligibility for tenure.

The successful candidate will be joining the School at a stimulating time of growth with a recently enlarged number of education and research-focused faculty, major curricular revisions, and a physical space with state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will be a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) with a strong vision for the PNP role and for the promotion of advanced practice nursing. They will have experience in teaching and clinical supervision and have a history of engagement in leadership, quality improvement and/or other professional endeavors. 

In coordination with the Nurse Practitioner Program Director and in partnership with the Medical Director of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Concentration, the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Coordinate theoretical and/or clinical (internship) courses in accordance with the ISoN’s Teaching and Human Resource Policy;
  • Develop and review concentration and course objectives to ensure that they are consistent with the standards established by the OIIQ and the MSSS;
  • Chair the PNP concentration’s Program committee and Admissions committee;
  • Participate in NP Program team meetings;
  • Participate in the recruitment of invited experts, supervisors, evaluators and other academic resources as required;
  • Support the Clinical Partnerships Office (CPO) in the coordination of PNP internships;
  • Prepare the documentation for the professional order examination visit (accreditation) and participate in the accreditation process;
  • Communicate with external partners (e.g., UQO, MSSS, OIIQ, clinical partners, etc.) as required for the coordination of the concentration;
  • Advise students on future career planning, including opportunities for professional development;
  • Ensure the final assessment of competencies prior to graduation.

The successful candidate will also be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees).

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Minimum requirements for consideration are:

  • Master of Science in Nursing Degree;
  • Active OIIQ License as a Pediatric Nurse practitioner;
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner;
  • Experience in teaching and/or clinical supervision in nursing/NP;
  • Previous nursing leadership experience will be considered an asset;
  • Excellent verbal and written English and strong verbal and written French.
