We are looking for a vibrant and dynamic Investigator to support our Security Branch. The selected individual would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity. 

 

Reporting directly to the Senior Investigator, the Investigator is responsible for participating in and supporting the Senior Investigator in responding to reported or potential incidents with a possible security implication. The scope for this role includes collection and interpretation of information and events generated by internal security monitoring tools and third party providers. The Investigator will provide Incident Management support to technical and confidential investigations to contribute to Security Branch support of NRC programs within established NRC security policies and standards.

 

The person needs to have a very high level of integrity and a complete commitment to confidentiality.

Education

Successful completion of post-secondary education in a field relevant to the position. 

 

An acceptable combination of education, training and experience may also be considered.

Experience

  • Recent experience working in a security environment involving timely and appropriate decision making. 
  • Significant experience with collecting and analyzing evidence to identify the root cause of potential security incidents which includes conducting interviews with appropriate groups and/or individuals.
  • Recent experience interacting with multiple internal and external stakeholders in the context of a security environment.
  • Experience in the delivery of recommendations and formulated strategies to improve the efficiency and consistency of all security policies, programs and applications based on incident findings.
  • Recent experience contributing to the improvement of security documentation, reporting mechanisms, awareness and training processes and enhancements.

 

*Significant is defined as at least 3 years of experience.

*Recent is defined as within the last 5 years

Condition of Employment

Top Secret (III)

 

A Top Secret clearance must be obtained within 12 months of employment.

Technical Competencies

  • Knowledge of physical security concepts and standards, personnel screening and information security standards, all in accordance with the Policy on Government Security.
  • Knowledge of security operations, security monitoring and incident response in a complex and geographically dispersed environment.
  • Knowledge of intelligence gathering and analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of nvestigative and analytic techniques in the context of reported incidents. Examination of additional sources of information such as operational reports and visitor logs, conduct on-site interviews and examination of physical infrastructure and facilities, and record findings.

Compensation

Rates under review

 

From $64,022 to $75,389 per annum. 

 

In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
